On October 30, we had a classroom STEAM Day that consisted of Science, Technology, Engineering and Collaboration. Congratulations to our Challenge winners TEAM 1!
Welcome to Mrs. Currie's Cool Class. I love teaching 6th Grade and am so excited to meet you! I have been teaching in Bedford since 2006. I have two amazing kids and a really cool dog! I play and coach hockey in my free time! Please tell me about yourself in the comments. See you next week!
Today we made thermometers. Due to heat transferred from our hands the molecules of water moved apart and caused the water in our thermometers to expand.
For our Energy Unit we have incorporated some fun food science. Check out our photos of Ice Cream in a Bag (Heat Transfer and Chemical Energy) as well as Solar Ovens (Radiant Heat Transfer, Thermal Energy). Plus we enjoyed the snack!
Here are some photos from our Glacial Abrasion Lab. We used ice with sediments and soap (that acted like our land) to show have glaciers can change the way our Earth looks.
This week we created glacier models that illustrated how glaciers erode sediments and weather Earth. We also saw how melting and refreezing causes glacial plucking.
